How To Wear Sequins In January Without Looking Silly

How To Wear Sequins In January Without Looking Silly

You thought you were done with sequins, shimmer and shine on Jan 1, didn’t you? Not this year. The SS18 collections were unexpectedly full of the stuff, and not just for evening wear. Over the next six months you’re going to be surprised at how much high shine you see on the high street. If you want to get ahead of the curve, take inspiration from the fashion front row, below.

If wearing sequins in January will put this kind of smile on my face, I’m all for it. A simple way to embrace the trend is with embellished denim. This kind of stark contrast between utilitarian denim and glamorous sequins always makes a strong style statement.

If in doubt, embrace a trend through accessories. This street style star looks totally on it but understated carrying this gorgeous gold bag.

What makes this belt really stand out is the unique leaf-shaped design. A skinny gold belt would certainly nod to the trend for high shine, but this piece makes much more of an impact.

This sequinned beret looks so chic, and because the sequins are navy, it offers an even more subtle way to embrace this trend over the coming months. Shiny sequins and textured knits are a luxurious combination too.
