How to Wear And Love The 70’s Trend

As a fashion blogger one trend I’ve been bombarded with questions over lately is the return of the 70’s siren, from fit, shape and of course how to wear it.

One thing is for sure it’s a trend that’s more flattering than you may realise. The key part is balancing textures, floaty pieces to suede’s, fringing, leathers and of course denims. The rebirth of this 70’s trend is a style that can be playful and fun, to seriously chic. My apprehensive self dipped my toes into this trend at the start of the summer for my blog, and now, I’m hooked. Throw me a suede and faux shearling jacket and I’m putty in your hands. With this in mind I’ve put together a small trend cheat sheet to help you on your 70’s shopping travels!

Dress, €60,?Oasis/ Jacket,?110, Miss Selfridge/ Burgundy dress, €50,?Warehouse/ Grey faux shearling,?107,?River Island/ Red Bardot top,?30,?River Island?

If you have a busty frame, look towards delicate V necklines (not super plunge) that will help breakup your frame. Wrap style shapes, tops and dresses with cut out details are perfect examples. For jackets I love fitted open styled that won’t add bulk to your bust such as a suede biker look or some faux shearling.

Denim dress,?50,?Next/ Longline top,?37,?River Island/ Suede dress,?55, Debenhams/ Palazzo pants,?45,?River Island/ Suede skirt,?50,?Next?

For those of you who want to achieve this trend but are conscious of a lower tummy area, I assure you, you have NOTHING to worry about. Simply look towards A-line cuts, which are plentiful at the moment and belted styles that sit gently on the hip area. For tops, look towards layered floaty styles and don’t be afraid to embrace palazzo pants that are incredibly flattering on for a variety of body shapes.

Suede coat,?120,?Littlewoods Ireland/ Belt,?38,?Topshop/ Dress,?42,?Topshop/ Faux leather skirt,?55, Warehouse/ Jeans,?Oasis,??56?

Whether you have an hourglass shape and want to embrace your curves all the more, or perhaps you’re an athletic and pencil frame and want to achieve more of a curvy silhouette, these options will do just that. Look towards belted styles, body con dresses, high waisted flares, and don’t be afraid to embrace a faux leather pencil skirt like this Oxblood beauty from Warehouse. Pair it with a Bardot top for at night or a fitted shirt for more of a chic day at the office look.
