Emily Ratajkowski Is Now A Fashion Designer

Emily Ratajkowski Is Now A Fashion Designer

Emily Ratajkowski is officially a chameleon. She can act, model, speak as Gaeilge and now she has added “designer” to her burgeoning resume after teaming up with US designer Christy Dawn to create an amazing dress, the proceeds from which will go towards a charitable cause. The duo created The Emily Dress – a beautiful skater-shaped mini with a nipped waist, bell sleeves, square neckline, and removable neck scarf. The sustainably-created dress will be produced in five colour variations, and will have a limited run of about 75 pieces.

Those who can snag one on US shores will also be supporting a cause close to Ratajkowski’s heart: Planned Parenthood. Of each item sold, 25% of the purchase price will be donated directly to the non-profit organisation. Speaking about her dress, the 24-year-old told Glamour:

“I thought about the dresses that I’ve loved and been able to wear through the seasons, and what kind of a dress I want now,” she explained. “The necktie is my favourite part because you can make the look dressed up with it, or casual without it. I imagine myself wearing the dress without it on a summer day with tennis shoes, and dressing it up for an evening with the necktie and heels. But first, I’ll be wearing it for holiday parties with boots.” The burgundy shade (pictured above) is perfect for our festive season and the yellow-tinged version (below) would be heavenly on a summer holiday.

The Gone Girl star added that she wanted it to be wearable for everyone. “I wanted it to fit different kinds of bodies, and most importantly, the waist cinches for flattery. The skirt is cut so that it’s comfortable, not too tight, and has the perfect amount of swing to it.”

?I’ve always been interested in designing and creating clothes for women by women that are unique and flattering,? she said of the collaboration.?Teaming up with Christy, an amazing friend, mother and entrepreneur, was an ideal situation and I couldn’t be happier with The Emily Dress. I am thrilled we are generating support for Planned Parenthood through a portion of the sales proceeds.?

The model’s dress is a thing of beauty, and while it has a limited run, we’re hoping this first effort marks the start of a future full-length fashion line for her. We’d buy everything.
