Why Dressing For The Job You Want Is Still Relevant

In a world where working environments are becoming more and more relaxed, our workwear wardrobes are chilling out too. Have we reached a point where dressing smartly is no longer necessary to make a good impression? Despite the rise of tech companies who promote a very casual vibe, we still feel that dressing up for work can yield all kinds of confidence-boosting benefits and call us old-fashioned, but the woman who turns up to work, dressing like today is important, is one who’ll no doubt catch our attention. As for the adage of ‘dressing for the job you want, not the job you have’, we feel it still rings true.

That being said, the world of workwear has a lot more to offer in 2016 than it did twenty years ago. No longer do you have to don a suit that looks like it’s been borrowed from your aunt Mildred’s wardrobe for a big interview; you can work your professional look in a way that’s age-appropriate, fashion forward and comfortable. Whether it’s as simple as making a professional statement with your handbag or you opt for a shirt that exudes all kinds of confidence, there’s plenty of ways to get your #GirlBoss on this year.

We’ve been browsing the rails at Arnotts department store in an attempt to shake up our workwear wardrobe for SS16. With brands like Goat, 2nd Day, Loxley and more, your dream job is just around the corner.

Group 1

And don’t forget, if you’re a little unsure about what will suit you, Arnotts offer an amazing in-store personal shopping experience. Appointments are free and last up to 90 minutes, you can even enjoy a tea or coffee relaxing in’their?private rooms while the personal shoppers do all the hard work. Appointments can be booked in advance, and all details are over yonder.

We’re particularly excited about one of Arnotts’ latest additions; Philo. Why? Because a portion of the proceeds raised from each sale of Philo goods is given to female entrepreneurs who wouldn’t otherwise be able to secure funding for their respective business ventures. ?Philo’s core mission is to empower customers in their everyday while supporting female entrepreneurship. A portion of proceeds goes toward providing business loans to intrepid women who wouldn’t otherwise have access to funds. Upon repayment, each loan gets reinvested into another proactive recipient, creating a cycle of giving and growing.?
