When did brown become such a sexy shade?

When did brown become such a sexy shade?

Brown is the key colour for the new season, but I was expecting it in the form of oversized woollen coats, chunky knits and seventies-style co-ords. And yes, they’re there, but shades of brown and biscuit have been reimagined, too, in the sexiest of silhouettes and most sensuous fabrics. Here are five eye-popping pieces for the new season.

Sexy, but elegant too, this Zara top ticks all the boxes with its deep V-neck and semi-sheer mesh fabric.

A button-front dress has an inherent sexiness to it. Temper this with a polo-neck for daytime, and wear as is for evening.

Buttoned dress, €79.95 at Massimo Dutti

There’s nothing as subtly sexy as a great fitting pair of jeans or corduroys. These trousers from & Other Stories are fantastic and are top of my wish list. The fit looks incredible (on the model anyway!) and the cropped kicked flair, which reveals just a hint of bare ankle, is very sensuous.

Kick flare cords, €59 at & Other Stories

The very phrase “camisole dress” suggests an underwear-as-outerwear sexiness, and this Zara dress certainly ticks that box. If this dress was in red or white, it would look trashy or nightdress-like, but in this dark chocolate hue it’s sophisticated and classic.

A brown polo-neck jumper shouldn’t be sexy, but add in some cold-shoulder detailing and overlong sleeves (sloppy can be very sexy) and you’ve got an entirely different proposition. This River Island sweater is a great option if you want versatility from your knitwear.
