If you love Zimmermann, these are the labels you should know about

If you love Zimmermann, these are the labels you should know about

Make like Zimmermann’s bevvy of boho belles…sans spending the €€€.

When it comes to brands that routinely appear on the wishlists of fashion lovers across the globe, you probably won’t find one more name-checked than Zimmermann. From humble beginnings (early pieces were pedalled to shoppers at Sydney markets), this Australian success story has propelled itself into one of the most sought-after labels in the industry, thanks to the endearing vision of its founders, sisters Nicky and Simone Zimmermann.

No matter what genre designer Nicky Zimmermann turns her attention to — be it Victorian mademoiselles, pirates, cowgirls or 1970s hippies — the resulting garments are nothing short of works of art. The only downside? Trying to score an impeccably-detailed bishop sleeve mini or a laser-cut co-ord set means spending some serious dough.

That’s where we come in. If you want to channel the aesthetic loved by everyone from Kate Middleton to the Kardashians (and you can’t compare those two camps very often), consider this your cheat sheet.

The Silk Lemon

Irish-based website The Silk Lemon offers garments so closely inspired by the Aussie-label, you’d almost fool the most knowledgable of fashion fans.

Lilac Floral Mini, €84.95 from TheSilkLemon.com

Aje

If you can’t beat them, join them. Perhaps this is the unofficial motto adhered to by many of Australia’s most popular brands, who seem to look to Zimmermann for design inspiration. Aje is one such label from Down Under, also offering beachy-boho-meets-cocktail-party, albeit at a more approachable price point.

White Linen Ruffle Mini Dress, €211.08 from A-J-E.com

Y.A.S

No, not annoying internet speak — we’re talking about the brand stocked heavily on ASOS. With frequent sales on their pale floral frocks and lace guipure minis, Y.A.S is one to keep on your radar come wedding season. (Word to the wise: this popular brand sells out fast, so don’t hesitate if you’ve got your eye on a bargain piece.)

Tiered Mini Skated Dress by Y.A.S, €66.36 from ASOS.com

Topshop

Ahh, the high street always comes through, doesn’t it? Each summer, look no further than the likes of Toppers for dupes that allow us mere mortals to feel like a bonafide Zimmermann girl, if even for a fleeting minute.

Yellow Printed Broderie Top & Skirt Set, €86 from Topshop.com

Finders Keepers

Stocked on BNKR, aka the e-commerce mecca of Australian fashion brands, this label brings the insouciant romance for a fraction of the price. The only problem is choosing *just one* from their impressive selection of gúnas.

Sofia Dress by Finders Keepers, €147.75 from FashionBunker.com

Showpony

Where other brands fail, Showpony shines. That is to say that this online retailer offers all their clothing options right up to size UK 20. Chose from a generous selection of flirty playsuits, co-ords and printed dresses. Trust us, you’ll no longer be stuck trying to find your perfect going out out summer looks.

Downtime Dress, €51.89 from Showpo.com
