The best on-trend cargo pants to wear on repeat

The good news is that they have pockets, and lots of ‘em!

Women’s clothing has been without pockets for so long, that we’ve had to develop another way of carrying our stuff. Bags are one solution, but not all situations warrant such an accessory… in which case, The Claw – the single-handed grip in which we can simultaneously carry multiple belongings (usually a phone, car keys and some sort of beverage) – makes an appearance. We’ve become so adept at it, that men often stop us in the street to marvel at our strength.

Ok, ok, I made that last part up…  but it is pretty impressive. Thankfully, the surge in popularity of cargo pants means that The Claw can retire, for now. A huge trend for spring/summer 2023, they’re a great alternative for people who don’t like jeans but who want something equally versatile.

Inherently casual, they go best with a plain white tee and some trendy trainers, but with so many different varieties on the market, you can find definitely more glam versions out there too (opt for classic black in a silky fabric and pair with some red lippy for that femme fatale look).

According to The Wall Street Journal, cargo pants have quite the history – evolving from a baggy combat staple to a 70s protest garment, to grunge rebel’s garb in the 90s, to a pop-princess essential by that decade’s end. A favourite with street stylers and celebrities, they’ve also been seen on runways across the world with designers like Dries Van Noten, Isabel Marant, Off-White, Louis Vuitton and Versace favouring the practical, yet still very cool trend as of late.
