Tried & Tested: 6 Of The Best Body Scrubs For Smooth Skin Before Your Summer Holiday

by Jennifer McShane
28th Jun 2017

It may be raining today, but that won’t stop some of us from dreaming about setting foot on a sandy white beach. And though you shouldn’t feel any pressure whatsoever to alter your body before donning a swimsuit, all that SPF and tan going on your skin means it will likely need a buffer. ?At this time of year, exfoliating, perhaps to rid yourself of, dryness, streaky tan lines or simply to give your skin a rejuvenating polish is worth doing. The result? Smoother, softer and suppler limbs. Take care though: Much like exfoliating your face, it is important to cleanse and your skin without overdoing it, particularly if you fall into the sensitive spectrum so you don’t aggravate it.

We’ve chosen six contenders that smell gorgeous and leave your skin silky-smooth. All perfect if you’re thinking of treating yourself and plan to hit the beach in the not-too-distant future…

1. The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Cream Textured Body Scrub, €19

Fans of the body shop’s famous Body Butters will surely love their exfoliating counterpart. Smelling just as delicious as the Body Butters (and coming in a variety of different scents) and packed with fair trade ingredients this all-over body perfector is a delight and lasts ages. You’ll smell good enough to eat after just one use.

2. The Sanctuary Kyphi Nourishing Hot Sugar Scrub, €16.99

This is a potential gift favourite thanks to the beautiful jar (you can also get a more portable version), as well as being a budget bargain. Scented with lotus oil, vanilla and sandalwood, simply massage it into dry skin before stepping into a bath of hot water and allow the oils to permeate the skin. It’s a gorgeous one.

3. Clinique Sparkle Skin Body Exfoliator (200ml), €25

Ideal for those who don’t like the fuss of a jar, Clinique’s offering easy to take on the go. This rich exfoliator rubs away persistent dullness and irritating flakiness. The menthol gel-like formula refreshes and cools the skin as it exfoliates, leaving it polished and healthy.

4. Liz Earle Energising Body Scrub, €19

Liz Earle products have a renowned reputation, and the buck doesn’t stop at their facial products. This body scrub is equally mention-worthy. It is gentle enough for everyday use, and it’s beautifully scented, containing damask rose and geranium.

5. Soap & Glory Flake Away Body Scrub, €10.49

Soap & Glory have a few body buffers for you to chose from, but containing grains?of grapefruit, sea salt and almond oil, this one is better for targeting stubborn areas of flaky patches. Be sure to rinse until the grains are gone and you’ll be left with beautifully scented, smooth skin.

6. No7 Total Renewal Micro-Dermabrasion Body Exfoliator, €16

This one is unique in that it not only targets pesky patches of dryness, it also aims to renew the skin in a matter of weeks, using a dermatological technique to refine and renew the cells. The formula’s aluminium-oxide micro-crystals sweep away dull surface cells, leaving perfectly smooth skin, which with frequent use, aids the repairing of sun-damaged skin and helps fade fine lines.
