LFW beauty report: Charlotte Tilbury’s guide to Temperley London SS19

LFW beauty report: Charlotte Tilbury’s guide to Temperley London SS19

We are deep in the throes of London Fashion Week, with so many mouth–watering beauty looks flooding our Instagram feeds, from watercolour eyes at Erdem, nomad gypsy locks at Preen and Sam McKnight’s “hacker at a rave” out-of-this-world neon lace hair. Another level of creativity, no doubt, but not necessarily looks you might want to emulate IRL.

One look we want to wear everywhere, from office to drinks to Tesco, is Charlotte Tilbury’s glowing glass skin at Temperley London SS19. “For the Temperley London SS19 show,” says Tilbury, “I worked with Alice to create a gorgeous, sun-kissed, golden make-up look inspired by the lightness and femininity of the collection. My Tilbury Magic Glow was applied to all model’s skin, using Hollywood Flawless Filter and my Magic Away Concealer for a flawless, poreless-looking complexion.”

Here, Charlotte Tilbury breaks down how it’s done.

“Glowing, sun-kissed skin emphasising bronze and golden hues with a hint of coral reflecting the colour palette of the collection. For evening, a rock and roll eye.” Alice Temperley MBE

HOW TO: SKIN

“For the day look, I added subtle pops of colour with a bright but relaxed coral, red matte lip, perfectly complementing the soft colour palette of the collection.” – Charlotte Tilbury MBE

1. Charlotte prepped models skin with Magic Cream, €90 to the face and neck to instantly flood the skin with moisture, and create the perfect canvas, followed by her own Magic Eye Rescue Cream, €55, to hydrate and visibly smooth the appearance of the skin around the eyes.

2. Mix Light Wonder foundation, €42, – lightweight and hydrating for seamless coverage – together with Hollywood Flawless Filter, €40 – liquid gold for the face, if you want to treat yourself to one Charlotte Tilbury product, make it this – to create a dewy, instantly illuminated and flawless looking base.

3. Next, pores were minimised, fine lines were smoothed and blemishes were reduced with the new Magic Away Concealer, €30 for a runway-ready, flawless, poreless-looking complexion.

4. For the day look, Charlotte used her Hollywood Contour Wand, €35 – often regarded as the grown-up go-to for subtle contouring – to create a natural bronze, sun-kissed glow on the cheeks and temples.

“For the evening look, I wanted the model’s look to feel a little more rock and roll, so I used smokey, chocolate bronze tones, and a hint of a Rock’n’Kohl flick, softy smudged at the edges to feel more lived in.” – Charlotte Tilbury

5. For the night look, Charlotte contoured a little more – on the nose, jawline and the cheekbones.

6. You see the glow on the cheeks, the glow that looks like you could see your reflection in it? That’s Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Beauty Light Wand highlighter, €35, on top of the cheekbones, down the centre of the nose, and on the cupid’s bow. Instant radiance.

HOW TO: EYES

7. Brows were kept natural and brushed up, gaps filled with Legendary Brows, €27 and Brow Lift, €30.

8. Two different looks were on the eyes; Eyes To Mesmerise in Bette, €26 closely in to the top lash line with  The Classic eyeliner pencil in Audrey or Sophia, along the top and bottom lash lines, and softly smudged with the lightest shade from her Bar of Gold Trio, €65 to the inner corners of the eyes.

For the second eye look, Eyes To Mesmerise in Mona Lisa, €26 was placed along the top lash line and underneath the bottom lash line with Rock’n’Kohl eyeliner pencil in Barbarella Brown or Bedroom Black, €25, along the top lashline into a small feline flick at the outer corner and softly blurred at the edges with Eyes to Mesmerise in Marie Antoinette, €26 at the inner corner of the eye.

HOW TO: LIPS

10. The final step – two different lip looks. The first look was a soft, bright matte lip – Hot Lips in Super Cindy, €32 to the lips and gently smudged using her finger for a softer edge, with Hot Lips in Tell Laura, €32 over the top to make the colour pop. The second was a light layer of her iconic, award-winning Matte Revolution in Pillow Talk, €32 on to the lips for a  subtle hint of colour.
