My day in beauty with me, Aisling Keenan

My day in beauty with me, Aisling Keenan

Self-indulgent? Yes, absolutely! But look, I ask people every week about their beauty loves and I haven’t ever stopped to consider what I would put here. So, without further ado, here is my day in beauty. Enjoy!

“I start the day with a cleanse and a balancing serum, then SPF50 on my face and on any uncovered skin. I always rub the leftover into my hands too because I don’t want to get to 65 and realise my face no longer matches my hands. Something I’m never, ever without is lip balm. At the moment I’m digging Burt’s Bees Coconut and Pear one, it’s super nourishing and smells like heaven. Heaven for me is clearly a tropical dessert.”

My skincare picks:

Cleanser: I alternate a LOT but right now, Image Ormedic Balancing Cleanser and Kiehls Midnight Recovery Botanical Oil Cleanser
Toner: Biologique Recherche P50 Lotion, which is more of a treatment but still
Eye cream: Either Cerave’s one or The Inkey List Caffeine one
Hand cream: Alpha H anti-aging one
Serum: Either Image Vital C or their Iluma serum – lately I’ve been getting some peels and IPL too at Renaissance in Howth, so my skin is responding really well to all my skincare as a result. I think it’s worth seeing the professionals to help with skin concerns.
Oil: Clarins Blue Orchid Oil for face massage and a special treat for my face
Other: I think I should mention that about twice a year I get Botox in my fine lines on my forehead. It’d be unfair for me to try and claim that level of smoothness was down to skincare, because it isn’t! I go to Dr Katherine Mulrooney in the Mulrooney Clinic.

Clarins Blue Orchid Oil, €42

My top skincare tip:

“SPF, every day, rain, hail or shine. And a bit of at-home face massage works a treat to replump and boost your skin before a big occasion.”

My make-up picks:

Foundation: Make Up For Ever Ultra HD is the BEST, but It Cosmetics CC Cream comes in a very close second
Primer: Ren Skin Finishing Serum. Pricey but worth every penny
Concealer: Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer
Brushes: Nima, Blank Canvas and Real Techniques – their Expert Face brush is the dream for foundation
Palette: Blank Canvas Cosmetics Master Series Palette and Urban Decay… well, everything they do
Lipstick: Tom Ford Liquid Matte in Ruby Rush
Lipgloss: Primark Alex Steinherr Plumping Lip Gloss – cheap but brilliant
Highlighter: Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand
Contour: Fenty Beauty Matchstix in Amber
Blush: Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Calypso Coral
Mascara: Urban Decay Perversion and Subversion
Perfume: Le Labo Another 13 or else Chanel No5 Eau Premiere

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD, €40

My hair picks:

Shampoo and conditioner: I exclusively use Nioxin because it’s the only thing I believe will help my hair stay healthy and grow
Treatment: Nioxin again, their anti-breakage mask. I also use lots of Kerastase ones too
Texture spray: Moroccanoil Texture spray is BY FAR the best I’ve ever used
Hairspray: L’Oréal Elnett
Heat protector: Kerastase Elixir Ultime Legere
Dry shampoo: Klorane’s Oat Milk one is absolutely unreal for collecting up grease
Other: Eleven Australia Miracle Hair Treatment is another one that does millions of things

Moroccanoil Texture Spray, €21.45

My hair top tip:

Don’t brush it when it’s sopping wet, always use a heat protector and get a really great clarifying shampoo to use once a week.
