Can we talk about the reformulated Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser?

Can we talk about the reformulated Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser?

Fans of the original, don’t fret.

Rarely has a product remained the leader in a beauty category for as long as Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser has held the crown in natural coverage.

Laura Mercier, as a make-up artist and brand founder, was always far more interested in coverage than colour and has long held the belief that skin should look like skin.

With it’s launch in 1996, Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser introduced the world to the category of a tinted moisturiser, and though there have been many imitations since, there has been no brand with a tinted moisturiser as universally loved.

If you are among the original formula’s devoted following, you might be pretty panicked at the news that it has been reformulated. Why mess with perfection?

No need to fret: it is, believe it or not, better than ever, having been brought up-to-date with new skincare ingredients, new packaging and a wider shade range.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser, €49

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser now comes in 20 shades and is packed with hydrating oils (macadamia and kukui seed) which leave you looking dewy all day while evening out dryness. There’s also been a rise in the level of broad-spectrum sun protection, now at SPF30, instead of 20. There’s been an exciting addition of vitamin C and E, which work in harmony together as antioxidants, defending the skin from pollution. It’s the same sheer but buildable, glowy, dewy coverage you know and love, just with better ingredients.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser Illuminating, €49

The Illuminating version has the same power blend of vitamin C and E, moisturising powers and broad spectrum SPF30, with added French algae and liquorice extract to improve the skin’s radiance over time. I love dewy, glowy, natural coverage but found the blend of finely milled pearls that give the Illuminating version it’s luminosity to be too glimmery for me. At the moment I’m having some texture issues with my skin, which the liquid highlight effect of this formula just spotlighted. The Tinted Moisturiser on it’s own gave enough dewy glow to keep me happy, but if you tend to like an overall golden shimmer, the Illuminating version is the one for you.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser, €49, and Tinted Moisturiser Illuminating, €49, are available now.
