BEAUTY VIDEO: The New Smoky

This season’s beauty looks are some of the freshest we’ve seen in a while. A delightful juxtaposition of propositions; graphic lines merge with subtle stains, dark toned lips mix with ethereal glitters, eyeliner gets a real girl re-work, and skin is fresh and sublime.

At the shows, make-up artists more than answered the call to create – their skill showcased via the interplay between precise technique and undone individuality. Which will you choose? Whichever you like – just harness your creativity and experiment – You’re in control, and it’s time to play!

THE NEW SMOKY

It’s about time this classic got a trend re-work – And this season, it’s a free-for-all. Throw rules out the window, find what you like – the new smoky is about whatever looks good in the moment. Mix up the textures – add gloss, sheen or kohl to lids. ?Abandon mascara. Use one tone or five. Blend out, below, or way up high. Play.

Textures vary and?techniques have?evolved. Gone are?the days when a’smoky eye was simply’smoked grey shadow?and black kohl pencil.

Below, watch makeup artist Ailbhe Lynch create the simple four-step look using the subtly smoky MAC Paint Pot in the second of our AW16 trend videos and pick up the August issue of IMAGE to see the full season trends.
