WATCH: The trailer for Beyoncé’s new visual album ‘Black is King’

The new visual album is inspired by last year’s soundtrack to The Lion King, which Beyoncé executive produced

Beyoncé’s new album is almost here, and as well as an impressive tracklist, fans can also enjoy the visual side of Beyoncé’s talents.

Yesterday, Beyoncé released a trailer for Black is King, the new visual album releasing on Disney Plus on July 31.

The album is based on The Lion King: The Gift, the soundtrack for the Disney remake which Beyoncé curated and executive produced. Stars featured on the soundtrack included Jay-Z, Childish Gambino, Pharrell Williams, Kendrick Lamar and many others.

Black is King is a follow-on from The Gift, and it’s easy to see the inspiration in its new trailer. Disney fans will recognise imagery from The Lion King, and quotes from the movie throughout the teaser. It has also been confirmed that many of the musical stars who featured on The Gift will appear again on Black is King, including Jay-Z and Pharrell Williams, joining other Black icons like Naomi Campbell and Lupita Nyong’o.

Watch the trailer in full below, ahead of Black is King‘s official release on July 31.
