These are a beauty experts top tips and treatments for healthy and glowing skin

We love make-up. From foundation to concealers to blushers; we adore it all. But sometimes, it can be easy to forget about the effects that all of this can have on skin.

Looking after our skin is vital.

Here at IMAGE, we are always on the hunt for new products that will act as skin saviours and we love to hear advice that we can keep in our back pockets as we continue on our journey to healthy and glowing skin.

The experts are experts for a reason. They know their business. And they know skin and what it needs to look its best. Which is why we asked beauty therapist Rachel Sheehan from Bellevue Spa in Co. Cork to give us her top tips and products she uses for beautiful, healthy and glowing skin and what advice she would give to aspiring beauty therapists.

And this is the opportune time for us to talk about all things beauty and skin related because the IMAGE Business of Beauty Awards 2019 is just around the corner.

What are your top tips for healthy and glowing skin?

“My top tips include drinking plenty of water; having a good skincare routine; removing your make-up every night; getting a good night’s sleep; having a healthy balanced diet and cutting back on sugar and processed food.”

What beauty myths do you wish were forgotten about?

“The beauty myth I wish we forgot about is thinking that the top layer of our skin is dead and that we need to scrub it away. In fact, the top layer is very much alive and our skin desquamates naturally so we don’t need to use hard chemicals to strip it.”

In your opinion, what are the best treatments?

“All treatments have their own amazing qualities depending on that the client is looking for. Personally, I love performing Reflexology and Reiki. I enjoy having a sense of deep relaxation and inner peace which is what I get from these treatments and the benefits for clients are endless.”

What are the top five skincare products that you use in your work and why?

Eyebright

“With this product, you see instant results with issues such as puffiness, dark circles and fine lines. No need to look tired anymore.”

Prescriptive High Classic by Dermaviduals

“Because no two skins are the same, everyone needs a moisturizer that suits their skin type and works for them.”

Rosemary and black pepper body oil

“This is perfect for when you only have time for a quick massage but need something to take the edge off tight muscles. The aromatherapy benefits with this oil can give you that.”

Oleogel by Dermaviduals

“This product puts back in what life takes out. This is a multi-purpose balm which can be used as a facemask or on any areas of dry skin.”

Enzyme Skin Renewal Kit

“This is a powerful and highly effective desquamating treatment. It will brighten a dull, ageing and congested skin.”

What advice would you give to an aspiring beauty therapist?

“Love every minute of it! Work hard to help every client in every way possible. Look after your clients to the best of your ability each and every day and maintain a healthy work-life balance in the process. Also, enjoy what you do and have fun and maintain a positive attitude with clients and team members and with a winning attitude, anything is possible.”
