5 Face Masks Your Skin Will Thank You For Wearing

5 Face Masks Your Skin Will Thank You For Wearing

We are now in a time of transition; that awkward point where all signs point to summer, but it still feels like spring. And the changing seasons can cause havoc; skin can look dry and very worn – it’s all that to-ing and fro-ing from cold wind to warm heat that does it. It’s a time when even a good moisturiser just won’t cut it; you’ll need something that packs a bit more punch. That’s when it’s time to use a face mask. Below are five of the best:

Clarins Extra-Firming Mask, €62

Extra Firming Ingredients Shot

While Clarins? products are usually quite brilliant, often I feel their moisturisers don’t quite hydrate the skin as they should come winter. Thankfully, their new mask gives skin that extra needed boost. Formulated with green banana, this anti-age mask works to lessen the skin signs of stress while plumping and moisturising. Your skin will glow the next morning.

Superfacialist Rose Intense Moisture Mask, €13.99

Una Brennan has been one of my go-to brands for years when it comes to reviving my skin (and excellent price points) and this rose mask is the business. This one doesn’t contain any skin-tingling ingredients but deeply moisturises the skin, leaving it soft and supple. Add a thick layer, leave for 5-10 minutes and your face will feel brand new.

Dr Hauschka Clarifying Clay Mask, €32

For those who suffer from blemishes, a clarifying clay mask is the way to go. They work to give the skin a deep cleanse in just a few minutes, and the above works by absorbing dirt particles while nasturtium soothes dry skin. As the product is organic, it’s suitable for all skin types; leave on for five minutes if you’ve sensitive skin and 10 if you’ve normal.

Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask, €30

In terms of fighting those painful-under-the-skin spots, this is the best mask I’ve ever used. Bamboo Charcoal acts like a magnet to draw out any pore-cloggers, white China clay absorbs environmental toxins, and lecithin dissolves impurities leaving a fresh surface. This is a cult favourite in the US. For maximum effect use a hot cloth to open pores and apply the mask for 10 minutes.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque, €28

This rich nighttime product hydrates dry skin and works to retain moisture by using hyaluronic acid and the lesser-known Ophiopogon japonicus (a plant extract) that help to absorb and hold water in the skin. Skin will appear bright and plump the next morning and with regular use, you should see fine lines reduced too.
