Three colourful homes in Cork, Dublin and Galway for €250,000 and under that will bring a smile to your face

First impressions aren’t everything, but a brightly coloured home is a guaranteed mood-booster.

A disclaimer: so I know that while there are many reasons one might buy a house, it’s unlikely to be because of the colour of its exterior. It’s just not as important a feature as, say, its location, or the size of the kitchen, and it’s entirely possible (although not a small job) to change it yourself once you move in.

However, there’s no denying that seeing a colourful home brightens up your day. Here are three around the country on sale for €250,000 and under. Who knows, they might even convince you to paint your own home a more cheerful shade.

29 Dromin Chaoin, Bishop O’Donnell Road, Galway, €250,000

Not only does the two-tone pink of this house feel welcoming and bright, its location in Galway’s city centre means it’s within walking distance of any number of shops and restaurants, and vibrant city life.

With three bedrooms, this home is also well-sized. An open plan kitchen and dining space feels warm thanks to pine units, while outside there is a large paved area to the back of the house which is easy to maintain.

58 Clifden Road, Ballyfermot, Dublin, €240,000

A three bedroom terraced home, this house sits across the road from a park, making it ideal for those with children. Inside it’s in need of some refurbishment, but has the potential to be a great family home.

There is a long garden to both the front and back of the house, giving you the opportunity to create your own outdoor haven. This home is also within an easy commute of the city centre, while amenities such as The Phoenix Park are easily accessible.

31 Chandler’s Walk, Rushbrooke Links, Cobh, Cork, €225,000

Situated in Cobh, known for its colourful rows of homes, this three-bedroom home sits well in its surroundings. Inside it’s in good condition, while the current owners have also included pops of colour throughout the interior also.

It has easy access to bus and train services to Cork city, while the popular beaches of the Cork coastline are within easy reach for weekend exploration.
