3 old farmhouses for sale around Ireland under €200,000

If you’re tempted by country life, one of these beautiful farmhouses would make a rustic (and affordable) home.

Whether you’re someone who’s always been tempted by the tranquillity that rural life affords, or have more recently started thinking that you’d love to be able to hear birds rather than cars from your window, there’s no denying the appeal of an old farmhouse.

With rustic charm and details you just won’t find in your average home like stone walls, a stove in the kitchen, and often outbuildings and sheds that can be used for all manner of projects, they have plenty to offer apart from their often idyllic settings.

Here are three that are on the market for under €200,000, proving that your countryside daydreams could well become a reality.

Tullintain, Bruckless, Co. Donegal, €165,000

old farmhouses for sale

Located in a particularly scenic area of south-west Donegal, this three-bed farmhouse was renovated in 2007, and is therefore in good condition.

It has several beautiful stone outbuildings that could be put to a number of uses, and add to the charm of this old home. In close proximity to Killybegs and the Wild Atlantic Way, there is plenty of stunning natural scenery in the area.

The Orchard Farmhouse, Schull, West Cork, €195,000

With views over the Mizen peninsula, this three-bed farmhouse has recently been renovated, so is fully fitted with modern appliances and finishes inside while still retaining its character.

It sits on a 0.75 acre plot lines with mature trees, and comes with a number of stone outbuildings, which have plenty of potential to be converted into a home office, studio, workshop, or even additional accommodation with planning permission.

Tomduff, Borris, Co. Carlow, €110,000

This beautiful house is sadly in poor condition inside, but with renovation could make a very special home. It sits on a site of 0.8 acres, and has stone outbuildings and a paddock.

There are currently two bedrooms, but there is potential to extend the property to provide additional space. The house sits at the bottom of Mount Leinster, with many interesting walks in the vicinity including the Nine Stones, the Barrow Way and the Clashganny loop walk.
