19 adorable doormats to welcome you home and see you off each day

Eye-catchingly colourful or emblazoned with a warm greeting, here are some chic doormats that will help set the tone for your home before your guests set foot over the threshold.

Every year, when summer turns to autumn, we find ourselves more drawn to evenings spent in the comfort of our own homes, feet up in front of the fire or curled up in bed reading. Coming home becomes the highlight of the day, shutting out the chaos of the real world for another night when we close the front door behind us.

Though they’ve certainly got their functional use — wiping our feet to make sure we don’t bring the debris of the day in with us — that’s not to say that doormats can’t compliment the overall theme of your home, and bring a little personality out to the surface.

From your typical welcome mats to more original patterned options, it’s entirely up to you. A good way to make a great first impression on guests and a nice little pick-me-up after those harder days, the humble doormat can yield its fair share of dopamine.
