WATCH: The trailer for Paul Mescal’s new TV drama The Deceived

Breakout star of Normal People Paul Mescal is growing his TV career, with new thriller drama The Deceived

Actor Paul Mescal has taken on a role in a new television thriller The Deceived, set to air on Channel 5 later this year.

Mescal plays McKeough, a local builder who becomes a confidante to lead character Ophelia, whose affair with her college lecturer is interrupted by a horrific death.

The series is written by Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee, and shot in Northern Ireland and Cambridge in the U.K.

Mescal shot to fame earlier this year as Connell in the critically acclaimed TV adaptation of Sally Rooney’s Normal People. Mescal, starring alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones, was revered for his turn as the sensitive Connell, and many marked him as a breakout star of 2020.
