More than 220 guests gathered in The Castleknock Hotel on 16th September for Mikey’s ball to raise awareness for perinatal hospice care, which is the care a baby and its parents receive after a life threatening diagnosis is made during a pregnancy. The funds raised on the night were donated to The Rotunda Foundation to support a new initiative at the Rotunda Hospital’s Foetal Assessment unit, ‘The Journey Bag’ and also to Feileacain – Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Association of Ireland to continue their very important work.
Guests were treated to a bubbly reception on arrival, a sumptuous meal, table prizes and gifts and The Afters band provided the entertainment for the evening that had everyone up on their feet until the early hours of the morning. Speakers on the night included Ross McConnell (Mikey’s dad) and Jane Dalrymple (Clinical Midwifery Specialist in Foetal Medicine,  Rotunda Hospital). Among the familiar faces on the night were previous Dublin footballers Ross McConnell, James Brogan and Alan Brogan and current Dublin hurling manager, Patrick Gilroy. The event raised over €33,000 for the charities.
