Three dream houses to buy in Rathmines right now

Three dream houses to buy in Rathmines right now

Rathmines is one of the oldest suburbs in South Dublin, located just 3 kilometres from the city centre. The town’s large, red and yellow-brick homes make it beautiful place to live, while facilities are plentiful. Famous for its offering of cafes, bars and restaurants, it’s also an ideal spot to raise a family. The Dublin 6 neighbourhood is home to many primary and secondary schools (of all denominations). Alexandra College and St Mary’s College rank particularly high.

St James’ and St Vincent’s hospitals are both a 15-minute drive away, while GP clinics and pharmacies dot the streets. Rathmines boasts supermarkets, fitness centres, boutiques and healthfood stores, and the revamped Stella Cinema is on your doorstep for date night. Rathmines is walking distance to Grafton street and serviced by Dublin Bus routes 14, 15, 18 and 65 (to name but a few), as well as the LUAS green line. If this sounds like somewhere you’d like to live, check out these three houses available to buy right now:

3 Gulistan Place, €475,000

This mid-terrace townhouse has been completely upgraded to the highest standard by its current owner. The bespoke kitchen/dining area at 3 Gulistan Place is the heart of the home. Kitted out with hand-painted shaker style doors; a large island unit with cupboards and drawers; built-in dishwasher and washing machine; overhead extractor fan and recessed lighting; it’s a beautiful space to entertain guests. The living room features a solid-fuel stove and the entire house is bright and airy. With two-bedrooms (both including built-in wardrobes) it’s an ideal property for young families.

8 Grosvenor Square, €1,100,000

This red-brick period property dates back to the mid-1800s and includes many of its original features; including cornices, fireplaces, window shutters and staircase. Two large, light-filled interconnecting reception rooms are located on the ground floor, while five bedrooms are located upstairs. The spacious, renovated attic room (with a feature brick wall) can be used as a bedroom or home office/study area. Meanwhile, the private, south-facing garden to the rear of the house (with its raised flowerbeds and patio area) is a lovely spot for summer BBQs.

54 Leinster Road, €1,400,000

While the interiors certainly need upgrading, this four-bedroom terraced house at 54 Leinster Road is worth a look. The yellow-brick Victorian home retains many of its original features; including marble and cast-iron mantlepieces, shutters and doors. The spacious kitchen is fitted with a marble worktop, as well as access to the rear patio and lawn. With large bedrooms (including fitted wardrobes) and three bathrooms, it would make a fine family home. Off-street parking is available too.
