GALLERY: The Most Bad-Ass Women Of Rock And Roll

Today, the world lost one of the most iconic women of the 1960s and 70s rock and roll scene,?Anita Pallenberg. To some, she may have just been a rock star's girlfriend, but to many others, she was a symbol of the?free, if hedonistic lifestyle that encapsulated the Swinging Sixties. Born in Rome to bohemian parents, Pallenberg was a fashion model in Paris and later hung out at Andy Warhol's Factory, before famously joining the Rolling Stones cliques where she dated both founding member Brian Jones and went on to become the long-term partner of Keith Richards.

Stylish and intelligent, she was a true rock muse; she led the?pack for many and paved the way for others. She was one of the kick-ass women who ruled the music scene in the 60s and 70s, so in her honour, here is a gallery of some of the?coolest women ever in rock and roll.

(Jane Birkin isn't really a bad-ass woman of rock and roll as such, but she epitomes the 60s in her own beautifully bohemian way so I just had to include her.)
