Beauty United: Drew Barrymore joins over 40 beauty brands to raise $10 million for Covid-19 relief

Wellness and beauty brands unite to raise money for Covid-19 Frontline Responders Fund, including Drew Barrymore, who’s navigating parenthood in quarantine

Over 40 beauty brands have come together to raise money for Covid-19 relief, forming the Beauty United campaign.

Drew Barrymore, founder of FLOWER Beauty, announced the companies’ alliance yesterday when speaking to the Today Show.

Her brand FLOWER Beauty is teaming up with other wellness and beauty big names, like Gwyneth Paltrow (Goop), Bobbi Brown (Evolution_18), Victoria Beckham, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (Rose Inc.), Huda Kattan and Mona Kattan (Huda Beauty and Wishful), and Charlotte Tilbury.

Frontline Responders Fund

The organisation has already raised $6 million and aims to raise at least $4 million more. The aid is allocated for helping frontline workers and providing personal protective equipment in coronavirus hotspots.

In a powerful video, the charity features these brand leaders speaking up about why they joined and what their mission is.

“As we face this global health crisis with uncertainty, sadness and fear, we stand together. We stand in solidarity as one family,” they said.

“We are so grateful to these heroes [frontline health workers] who leave their families every day to take care of us, putting their own lives at risk to save ours.”

So many hats

Barrymore was excited about the new alliance and went on to say that, like her fellow female brand leaders, she is choosing to remain positive even though things have been hard, especially as a mother.

It’s “the messiest plate I’ve ever held in my life, to be the teacher, the parent, the disciplinarian, the caretaker”, the actress explained.

I cried every day, all day long

“I just tried to find routine with my kids. […] And then school started. And it all went out the window. The minute I thought, ‘Oh, I’m three weeks in. I’ve got this,’ I cried every day, all day long.”

“You see people on social media making lists and you’re like, ‘Aaaghh!’ [But] you find your way. You’re resilient.

She encouraged other parents, saying she is taking life day by day and granting herself happiness for the little victories.

“Happiness is a war you fight every day and the victory is if you accomplished any of those wins, that is a win.”

It’s great to see Barrymore along with so many other industry leaders making a difference in the current pandemic, and choosing to spread positivity by helping those in need with the tools they have.
