Amy Schumer and Emily Ratajkowski among those arrested at anti-Kavanaugh protests

Comedian and actress Amy Schumer, and model and actress Emily Ratajkowski, were among approximately 300 people arrested at a protest against US Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

The protest took place on Thursday at the US Senate building in Washington D.C, to challenge Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court, after he was accused of sexual assault. Kavanaugh’s Senate hearing took place last week in the US, with California college professor Dr Christine Blasey Ford testifying he sexually assaulted her in high school when they were teenagers. Kavanaugh has denied the allegations.

Crowds of protestors descended on Washington to voice their anger at Kavanaugh’s position; demanding that he be disqualified from his nomination to the Supreme Court. Reports say that around 300 protestors were arrested for crowding, obstructing, or incommoding, with Schumer and Ratajkowski among them.

Both women posted on social media about the protests, with Ratajkowski saying she “was arrested” and that “men who hurt women can no longer be placed in positions of power.”

Earlier this week, President Trump was seen to be mocking Dr Ford’s testimony at a rally in Mississippi, where he questioned her ability to remember the facts of the evening in question. In a video of the rally, supporters of Trump are seen to be laughing in agreement:
