6 things to do with the kids this weekend to finish off midterm with some fun

The kids are almost back in school, and whether you're jumping for joy or clutching them closer at that idea, this weekend still leaves two days of opportunity to have some family fun together. Around the country, there are plenty of great events on for the family - you're sure to find something to suit your brood. Happy weekend from IMAGE!

Friday, Saturday and Sunday: Head to the Make and Do Studio at Kildare Village

With a different theme for every day at the Kildare Village Make and Do workshops, there's something for each and every kid that might be bored this weekend. Friday is Lego Technics; Saturday is Pound Drumming and Sunday is Science and Slime (parents beware). Each workshop is 45 minutes long this weekend (from 12pm-4pm) and there's no booking required.

Saturday: Learn some natural history at the National Museum of Ireland Open Day

A great one for the kids who love nature and science, the Natural History Museum is having a drop-in day this Saturday for patrons to learn about environmentalism and sustainability in Irish nature. The museum has partnered up with organisations such as Irish Whale & Dolphin Group, Seal Rescue Ireland, Inland Fisheries Ireland, The Herpetological Society of Ireland and many others to showcase wildlife in Ireland. A great day out, and no booking required.

Sunday: See the Gingerbread Man on the puppet stage at the Watergate Theatre in Kilkenny

Puppeteer Miriam Lambert is at the heart of the Irish puppet industry, and her latest show in Kilkenny will delight the kids this Sunday. In this rendition, Miriam plays the baker, from whom the Gingerbread man runs away - until he meets a clever fox. Tickets from €8.50, or €30 for a family of four.

Who better to mark the end of the midterm break than Bosco? Watch Bosco become a favourite for the new generation (they already might be a favourite of yours), with their story of Sleeping Beauty and the Magical Garden. Tickets from €12 or €40 for a family of four.

All weekend: Nurture your budding oceanographers at Cool Planet's Magical Ocean Labs
