What To Buy Now: A Print Coat

What To Buy Now: A Print Coat

In Ireland, outerwear should be a woman’s most considered purchase – after all, we spend ten months of every year wearing?coats (if we’re lucky, it’s only ten). Yet they’re still considered by many women as something of an afterthought, and not integral to the rest of their outfit. But really, if your coat makes the right statement, a simple pair of black’denims and a polo neck is all you need to look like you’ve meticulously thought through every element of your ensemble. It instantly elevates your style status and demonstrates a certain confidence.

For AW16, I’m inspired by the style influencers below, and have’my eye on a print coat. If you’d still rather opt for black, choose a directional cut to distinguish it from the mass of bland black coats that appear on every high street come autumn. In the meantime, scroll down and discover how to make print work.

Black as a base colour anchors this patterned coat, and pairing it with an all-black outfit allows the floral print to take centre stage.

Colourblocking is an easier way to embrace pattern and make a statement. The Breton top underneath is the perfect pairing.

A silk print coat is a great option for summer as well as autumnal evening wear. Be unapologetic and layer it over a different pattern but in the same colourway.

A simple patchwork is a great way try out this trend.?To avoid looking predictably boho, wear your patchwork coat with smart tailoring and heels.
