Johnny Depp Praises Daughter’s Openness Of Her Sexuality

When Johnny Depp’s 16-year-old daughter Lily-Rose participated in the Self Evident Truth Project, which aims to share images of Americans who fall on ?a broader spectrum of human sexuality,? many praised the young teen’s indication that she identified as ‘sexually fluid?, meaning she doesn’t identify as 100% heterosexual. It was seen as a brave and mature move, particularly as she chose to share the news with thousands of Instagram followers.

While the teen hasn’t commented on the matter any further, her famous father has said he ?couldn’t be prouder? of his only daughter, who is making huge strides in the modelling world.

I already knew because she tells me everything – she’s not afraid to say anything to me. We’re super-tight, and I’m very proud of our relationship.? The clearly doting dad couldn’t praise Lily-Rose enough: ?Lily’s really together – she’s a sharp kid and one of the smartest human beings I have ever met. She’s far surpassed me there – and my friends, too!? The actor said he valued their close relationship but pointed out the importance of letting her be her own person. “Whatever she is doing, if she needs any advice, I’m there for her,” he explained. “Kids are going to make their decisions, but I guess that the only thing you can do as a parent is to offer support. And I do.”

And the Pirates of the Caribbean star referred again to the fact that he worried about the young model’s blossoming career, and also of his fear that she was growing up too fast; something every parent can identify with.

“It’s such a funny thing when you see your daughter transitioning from your baby, your little girl, to suddenly being a young woman,” he said. “If you’re not looking for it, you can miss it, and Lily-Rose is on that road already and there’s nothing I can do to stop it.”

Also, the irony of Lily-Rose working with Karl Lagerfeld isn’t lost on Depp. Lily-Rose’s mother, Vanessa Paradis, also came up in the modelling world under the fashion icon’s guidance.

“She’s been snatched up by Karl Lagerfeld – which is a coincidence, as he spotted her mother when she was the same age, too – and when I see her with make-up and all that stuff, it’s really disturbing, because she’s a very beautiful girl, and it’s all happening so fast.”
