Summer Has Arrived As Arnotts Launches ?The City Is My Garden?

Summer Has Arrived As Arnotts Launches ?The City Is My Garden?

The magic and vitality of the great outdoors is being brought to life in Arnotts this summer, via a charming initiative to celebrate the benefits of the natural beauty that surrounds us on a daily basis.

The iconic department store has teamed up with the National Botanic Gardens and one of Ireland’s leading visual artists Maser to produce??The City is My Garden?; a concept that will proudly celebrate the beauty of nature present in the colourful bursts of gardens and parks around Dublin city.

Running from 4th May until mid-June, ‘The City is My Garden’ will illuminate the Henry Street windows, showcasing how calming, yet revitalising, both art and nature in a different environment can be.

Through these window installations, an urban garden oasis will be created while customers will be educated on the various aspects of the National Botanic Gardens of Ireland. Floral fashion elements will also be incorporated to establish an outstanding must-see visual display.

The creator of the concept, Arnotts Head of Creative Damien Byrne, said, “I really wanted to try to capture some of the beauty of the city from its many beautiful parks and gardens to raw urban street art. ?When we thought of an iconic Dublin garden, the nearby Botanic Gardens were a natural fit. We hope customers will enjoy discovering more about all things botanical through our infographics and educational installations.?

In addition, visual artist, Maser, will create a unique graffiti installation on the wall of number 1 Liffey Street, a key landmark when approaching Arnotts from across the Ha?penny bridge.

“Coincidentally I’ve been doing some research on botanics and their role and effect on us. It has led me to understand the importance of certain plants, in regards to our health, mental health, sleep, anxiety.?From sketches and photographs I’ve integrated their loose forms into my ‘hard lined‘ art and applied the new compositions to my canvas and prints works,” Maser said.

Visitors to the store will receive envelopes of complimentary sunflower seeds so they can bring a little piece of this charming concept home to their own outdoor spaces.

Scrumdiddly’s ice cream will also be on hand to celebrate the occasion with a pop-up ice cream shop and a garden party at the Arnotts Henry Street windows on the 4th and 5th?May.
