The dreamy Italian villa that features in Normal People sleeps six people and really does have that gorgeous swimming pool.
If you’ve gotten to episode eight of the TV adaption of Sally Rooney’s Normal People, you’ll have undoubtedly noticed the gorgeous Italian villa the episode is set in. In the show it’s Marianne’s family holiday home, and has a perfectly rustic interior with picturesque views and a huge swimming pool.
Well it turns out you don’t have to make friends with Marianne to visit, as the property is available to rent on AirBnb. Obviously we won’t be able to go just yet, but we’re pretty sure it will be a popular stay once people can travel again.
The property unfortunately doesn’t come with the guarantee of a lust-filled romance, but at least you won’t have to go through that tense dinner scene with the universally-hated Jamie. What you can do, is enjoy that pool with the stunning views.
The house is also located close to several villages, so you can follow in the footsteps (or bike tracks) of Marianne and Connell when they cycled through the Italian countryside to visit the shops and eat ice-cream. I’d also personally aim to pack at least one Marianne-eque black summer dress for the occasion.
Around 40 minutes from Rome, the house is set into a quiet countryside hilltop, meaning you can enjoy true peace and tranquillity. It has belonged to the same family for over 150 years, and is part of the estate of Verzano.
If you’re going with a gang, it’s also incredibly affordable, costing around €47 a night. However, if Normal People fans start to flock there, perhaps the host will start to up the price.
