Amal Alamuddin In Oscar De La Renta
We’re, by no means, celebrity crazy around BASH HQ (did someone say snarky?). But there are, of course, a few in the upper echelons of stardom that I just can’t help crushing on, when they get all princessed up for their inevitable fairytale wedding. That would probably be the limitless budget and access to wonderful designers tripping over themselves to whip up something special just for them. Taste doesn’t always come as standard, but this year provided some fine rig-outs that I definitely would’ve sported, had I an extra few grand lying around.
We all wanted to hate whatever Angelina Jolie wore, but it was impossible. She looked savage in that silky Versace gown. Many slagged the doodle-covered veil; I thought it was a super cute way to visually entwine her children through her identity as a bride. Amal Alamuddin looked pretty sweet, too. Though something about the princessiness of that Oscar de la Renta frock beside her very business-like face said Mutton-as-lamb to me, the glamour was undeniable. Fearne Cotton looked cute as a button in her sparkley, ruched Valentino number. Model Sara Blomqvist was a vision in Valentino – there’s just something about a sheer, lacy upper-bodice on a bride that you can’t quite beat.
But what’s better than being a celebrity bride in a super-chic high fashion frock? Being a celebrity bride in two super-chic high fashion frocks, of course. And for this, Poppy Delevingne wins the big trophy. She caught my attention in the ethereal Chanel one and then she went and knocked it out of the park in that fantastical piece of Pucci.
