Who’s Who At Penneys Autumn Launch ’15

Though the prospect of colder weather and shorter days does little to excite us, there is one distinct bonus to?the colder months’ approach: fashion. Just this weekend, we had the pleasure of checking out all that’s in store for autumn 2015 at Penneys; boy, are you in for a treat. Femininity returns with a velocity this season, seen in sleeker silhouettes with a new attention to texture and detail. Continuing on from summer, layering plays an important role for autumn €15. From contemporary tailoring to Nordic casuals, a layered silhouette of the season’s key items builds a strong statement for the chillier months ahead.

Bohemia stays strong, shifting to a bolder aesthetic for autumn in Fitzrovia. There are two sides to this 70’s inspired story. Crisp tailored capes worn back with dark denim flares allow for a more elegant sophisticated edge while the layering of elongated faux fur gilets and suedette maxi skirts nod towards a folksier relaxed feel. The classic palette is rich in neutral tones with the fine gauge roll-necks underpinning the look becoming the stand out layering piece.

Nostalgia picks up pace in Dark Victoriana, our decadent, romantic trend. High ruffle necklines enhance the 19th century feel to this dark glam story. Dresses worn in both midi and maxi lengths deliver an ethereal elegance counter balancing the sheer nature of the lace fabrications running throughout. Moody lace and plush velvets in a brooding palette of deep berry tones and rich gothic blacks are lifted with luxuriously rich creams. Accessories are soft and feminine with lace up heels further enriching this Victorian movement.

Frontier makes knitwear its hero with ribbed, sheared and fringed pieces wrapping, draping and cocooning. The emphasis on layering for this season continues here while classic styling with a masculine leaning reigns through. Chunky knits in voluminous proportions are worn over classic five pocket jeans for this casual, relaxed silhouette. Camel and warm grey’s bring added luxe to this story when paired back with Ivory and soft blue denims. The sumptuous, snug staples balance and ground the fiercer elements of the bohemian and nostalgic trends for a striking contrast.

Primark’s AW15 collection is a love letter to the season ahead – empowering, beautiful and fearless.
