What To Wear To An Interview

What To Wear To An Interview

While all the headlines hint at economic recovery, our WhatsApp group conversations still indicate the jobs market remains a hunting ground. Rewriting that CV countless times? Trying not to sound like the inner monologue of a caged killer whale when a hiring manager asks you why you want to leave your current role? It’s an exhausting process.

However, there is one way to make your wannabe professional life somewhat easier. Having a go-to interview dress hanging clean in a moth-free wardrobe helps you feel more secure and confident, knowing that one aspect of the to-do list is can be crossed off. The great thing about a dress is it’s one item and there’s a cut that can flatter just about everyone.

Here’s a selection of some classic shapes and shades that will save your brain cells from any sartorial niggles, so you can work on a nailing every possible interview scenario possible.

Unless you’re in extreme-bordering-on-satirical start-up land, safe colours are best. We love how Libby, a professional workwear brand that crossed our radar in January, transforms staid colours into an elegant uniform. Fitted or structured – there’s something to suit every efficient mood you want to channel. Libby is based in London and ships to Ireland.

Libby Aubrey Dress in navy €198

Libby Melrose Dress in grey €180

Libby Ottery Dress in Maroon €195

Okay, this Altuzarra number is pushing on €3000, but it’s pretty timeless. The sheer panelling may be a bit too daring for a very conservative office, but it’s perfect for a role that requires after-work events. It says chic and committed.

Altuzarra??2,877.11

Not exactly rolling in it? River Island does an affordable line in classic shifts, and this orange? dress is reminiscent of some of Audrey Hepburn’s later caper flicks. It’s fun while also playing it safe.

River Island €67.00

Also from River Island, this fit and flare print dress is a perfect starter role g?na. Also, sleeves are always a great choice.

River Island €45.00
