WATCH: David Beckham reveals he still has a memento from the day he first met Victoria
27th Feb 2020
David Beckham still has the train ticket that Victoria wrote her phone number on when they first met.
It turns out that David Beckham is a diehard romantic. Speaking on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he recalled how he was a young player at Manchester United when he first met his future wife.
He described how she had come to watch a game with her fellow band member Mel C in 1997.
Beckham said: “We knew of them, obviously, because they were pretty big at the time. And I was just establishing myself in the Manchester United team at the time. But we all had our favourite Spice Girl.”
Asked by Fallon if Victoria was his favourite, Beckham replied: “She was obviously my favourite, might be a bit awkward if she wasn’t.”
Victoria then travelled to Manchester again the following week and the rest, as they say, is history.
