WATCH: Alexa Chung’s guided DIY haircut is the content we all need right now

If you’re going to cut your own hair, do it under the expert guidance of celebrity hair stylist George Northwood

There are two types of people. Those who threw caution to the wind and cut their own bangs within the first two weeks of lockdown, and those who would never, ever lift a scissors to their own hair.

In recent weeks, however, another cohort has emerged. This group would consider cutting their own hair if there was an expert to oversee the process and virtually hold their (slightly trembling) hand.

Hair stylists are now offering virtual haircuts on video platforms like Zoom and Alexa Chung recently gave it a go.

Taking direction from British hairdresser George Northwood, whose clients include Meghan Markle and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, she started with a few tentative snips before taking a rather more gung-ho approach with her trademark bangs.

If you’re considering cutting your own hair, watch this video first.
