toys of toy story
In news that might excite you or unnerve you, it’s been announced that Toy Story 4 is in the works. Exciting, yes, if they manage to produce something on par with its emotional predecessor. Unnerving, perhaps, if it’s a total flop and taints the magic of the Toy Story trilogy, a series of movies that have defined many a childhood.
We’re going to assume that Pixar know what’s best, and while we know this has sprung from their monetary motivations – the previous three flicks have stacked up over a billion dollars – we trust that original director John Lasseter, along with the original movie’s writing team, won’t let us down. However we’ll have to wait a while to see what’s in store; its release date has been set for June 2017.
A modern classic that features on almost everybody’s DVD shelf – regardless of age – Toy Story was the first of its kind, the world’s first computer animated film.
Commenting on the fourth installment, Lasseter exclaims:?”We love these characters so much; they are like family to us,” Lasseter said.
“We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before.”
“When Andrew, Pete, Lee (the original Toy Story writing team) and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie?and I wanted to direct it myself.”
While the plot details will be kept under wraps ’til closer to the time, what we do know is that it will pick up exactly where Toy Story 3 left off, and will take the shape of a love story, or so Lasseter has told the LA Times.
Buzz, Woody and co will be joined this time round by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack.
We’re excited. Are you? Or do you feel some things are better left alone?
