WHO and Global Citizen announce a star-studded, live aid concert curated by Lady Gaga, with proceeds going to the UN’s Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund

For the past few weeks, Global Citizen has been streaming concerts with performances from the likes of Niall Horan, Shawn Mendes and Hozier as part of their “Together at Home” series to raise money for Covid-19 relief.

And now, they’ve announced the biggest live aid concert of the year. Partnering with WHO and Teneo, an Irish firm who’ve helped coordinate global corporate support, the concert will pledge proceeds to the UN’s Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

The line up

Curated by pop star queen, Lady Gaga, “One World: Together at Home” will include special appearances from an exciting musical line up: Alanis Morissette, Andrea Bocelli, Billie Eilish, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Chris Martin, Elton John, John Legend, Kacey Musgraves, Keith Urban, Lizzo, Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder and more.

The live broadcast will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert. It will also feature stories from healthcare professionals, messages of gratitude from those they’ve helped while working on the frontline of the current Covid-19 crisis and segments from WHO and UN global health experts.

One world

“We are proud to join forces with ‘One World: Together At Home’ to help suppress the transmission of the virus, minimise social-economic impacts on the global community and work together now to advance Global Goals for the future,” said António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations.

“There is no greater case for collective action than our joint response to Covid-19 – we are in this together and we will get through this together.”

Where and when

While the event will originally take place on April 18, available to stream via Facebook, Youtube and American TV networks, it will be internationally broadcast on RTÉ and BBC One on April 19.
