This Farmhouse Retreat Is The Ultimate Honeymoon Getaway

This Farmhouse Retreat Is The Ultimate Honeymoon Getaway

Soho Farmhouse, the latest UK launch from Soho House & Co, is what you might call agri-luxe: light on the agri, heavy on the luxe. The second rural outpost in the predominantly city-based fleet of members? clubs has crossbred a country club with a glamping retreat and added, among other kitsch delights, a refurbished 1950s milk float that delivers cocktails to the door of your cabin. Ah, the simple country life.

HIT THE HAY Each of the 40 cabins on this 40-hectare former farm in Oxfordshire sits overlooking a babbling stream and not too close to its neighbour; think reclaimed timber, hurricane lamps, outdoor tin baths (don’t worry: there’s a roll- top inside, too) and pre-set wood-burning stoves, plushed up via the perfectly lit, 300-threadcount Soho aesthetic. If bricks and mortar are more to your liking, there’s a seven-bedroom farmhouse and a four-bedroom cottage up for grabs, too – did someone say hen weekend?

COUNTRY LIFE There aren’t many opportunities for getting muddy (other than a mud treatment at the Cowshed Spa) but, of course, there’s riding and boating to be done, if you can tear yourself away from the rocking chair on your porch. Food options are expectedly numerous, ranging from fancy to comfy and there’s even a farmshop deli, for ad hoc picnics. The bar stays open until the last person leaves, there’s a plush cinema, a full gym, indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts, a football field – really, it couldn’t be further from actual farm life but one can’t imagine many of its elite and celebrity guests see this as a negative.

FURTHER AFIELD At your disposal are a Foffa Dutch fixie bike plus a pair of wellies in your size, tempting you to hit the country lanes – you can also borrow a BMW i3, for free, if frightening local walkers is more your scene. Although only a 90-minute drive from London, the area is peacefully rural, each chocolate box hamlet prettier than the last and the awe-inspiring Blenheim Palace is just up the road.

DAMAGE Nightly rates start at €380 (approx. €445) per person, for non-members. Great Tew, Chipping Norton, OX7 4JS, UK, +44 1608 691 000; sohofarmhouse.com
