12th Jan 2019
You may think that only those dedicated shoppers who venture out on St Stephen’s Day are able to find the best bargains in the sales, but many of our favourite brands still have some lovely products at reduced prices. So whether you’re considering investing in a new piece of furniture or would just like a little something to update your home, here are some things to snap up before they’re gone.
Time for Tea
This elegantly modern teapot will instantly create a centrepiece to your table, whether you have friends round for a chat or are simply enjoying a contemplative cup for yourself. Its centre chamber is perfect for brewing loose leaf tea, which not only has a fuller taste, but is also better for the environment (many tea bags contain plastic). Mouth-blown glass teapot, reduced from €75 to €67.50, Industry & Co.
New sheets are a treat that not only make your bedroom look good, but will also give you a great night’s sleep. This duvet cover from Zara is flannel, making it extra cosy, because there’s plenty of chilly nights still ahead. Flannel checked duvet cover, from €29.99 for a single, reduced from €59.99, Zara Home.
At the table
A dining table is a key investment for your home, so this oak veneer one from Habitat is a great choice. It’s extendable, so can seat from four up to ten people comfortably, and will serve you equally well from day-to-day meals to entertaining a crowd. Reduced from €700 to €518.49, it’s available through Argos in Ireland. You can even complete the set with these white chairs, also reduced from €220 to €159.99 for a pair.
There’s nothing like a little hit of colour to brighten up a dull January, and this bright cushion cover from Marimekko will provide just that. Made from a cotton and linen blend, its flower design will add a touch of cheer to any room. Unikko 40 x 60 cm cushion cover, reduced from €47 to €37.60, from Finnish Design Shop.
Part of the collaboration Ikea did with fashion designer Chris Stamp, this sleek armchair is a really versatile piece, and would look at home in a living space, or make a stylish addition to a bedroom. It’s available in the Dublin Ikea store (not online, unfortunately) until January 13 for €95, reduced from €225.
Sales are a great chance to save a lot of money on big purchases such as beds, and we love this one from Arnotts. It combines a minimalist silhouette with the rustic natural tones of the wood, giving a design that you’ll still love in years to come. Made from a combination of solid oak and oak veneer, its rich, warm tones will also create a cosy feel in a bedroom. Baker Rimini bedstead, from €579 for a double, reduced from €879, at Arnotts.
If your your New Year’s resolution is to be more organised, this board will help you on your way. It lets you keep track of reminders and notes with magnetic ‘pins’ and the brass hooks are handy for little bits and bobs. It’s reduced from €70 to €45, at April and the Bear.
