The Raw Life

The Raw Life

I would love to eat a completely raw diet but simply can’t stick to it. So I’m compromising and eating raw till dinner time. I find the best meal of the day to enjoy raw is breakfast, as it is easy to prepare and gives a healthy and motivational start to the day. I’ve invested in a juicer but a hand held stick blender is a fantastic cheap way to blitz smoothies and drinks without committing financially. Here’s one of my favourite green smoothie recipes that will ease you into the day and lift your energy levels naturally. Superfood kale can be overpowering but mixing it with zesty pineapple or citrus fruits makes it more palatable.

Tropical Green Smoothie

You’ll need

?1/2 cup coconut milk
2 cups destemmed and chopped kale or baby spinach
1 1/2 cups chopped fresh pineapple
1 ripe banana, chopped
Juice of 1/2 lime

Method

?Combine coconut milk, 1/2 cup water, kale, pineapple and banana is a blender. Pur?e until smooth, add the lime juice and more water if necessary. Pour into a tall glass and serve cold.
