Forget ‘get beach body ready’ and get body positive: BoPo accounts worth following

Now that summer is here, we’re bracing ourselves for the annual summer “GET BEACH BODY READY” marketing onslaught.

This is the time of year in which we’re aggressively reminded that our bodies are a “work in progress”, undeserving of fresh air and sunlight, and constantly open to ridicule.

Well, not anymore. A beach body is whatever body graces a beach, that’s all there is to it. And if this is something you’re having difficulty coming to grips with (because unfortunately, marketing works), then read on.

These body positivity (bopo) accounts will fill your social feeds with content that promotes and champions the human form and they’re sure to help you to see past the madness of this modern day, misplaced marketing. They might even bring a warm glow to your heart at times.

So before you even think about attempting to squeeze your body into society’s “acceptable” mould, have a look at the Instagram accounts listed below. Each one shows just how absurdly unattainable modern body standards often are, and highlights the inherent beauty of the “just the way you are” alternative, á la Bruno Mars.
