Have you ever ventured to the cinema and thought, ‘Boy, I wish my dog could come too’? For a lucky handful of Irish families, that wish became a reality.

On Saturday, Universal Pictures Ireland and the ISPCA invited pet owners (and their pets) to Odeon, Point Square for the Irish premiere screening of The Secret Life of Pets 2.

Who was there?

Pets from all over Ireland arrived in style for their red (and green) carpet debut; sporting stylish collars, leads and harnesses. There were lots of dogs in attendance; as well as a hamster and two ferrets.

After strutting their fluff for photographers Anthony Woods and Kenneth O’Halloran, pets were invited to kick back and relax with a ‘doggy massage’ and pampering at the pawdicure station. After that, they joined their human companions for the debut screening of Universal Pictures’ The Secret Life of Pets 2.

Among the human special guests were Erica Cody, Natalie B Coleman, Triona McCarthy, Laura Woods, Rosie Connolly-Quinn and Michelle McGrath. Vanessa Murphy was also there with her dogs Blossom and Florence; as was Molly Coyle with her hamster Ed; and Bee Cleary, with her dog Luca.

Secret Life of Pets 2

The Secret Life of Pets 2, the tenth animated feature from Illumination, is the highly-anticipated sequel to the 2016 comedic blockbuster (which seemingly had the biggest opening weekend ever for an original film – animated or otherwise).

Full of subversive humour, this new chapter explores the emotional lives of our pets; the deep bond between them and the families that love them; as well as answering the question every pet owner has wondered: what are your pets really doing when you’re not at home?

The Secret Life of Pets 2 hits cinemas across Ireland on May 24.
