School’s back soon, so make the most of what’s on this weekend

Those long summer days are finally drawing to a close this week, and school is on the horizon for petrified kids and relieved parents around the country. If you want to make that last scrap of summer last, then check out our What’s On guide. Happy weekend from IMAGE!

Saturday and Sunday: Feel the love at Love Sensation at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham

This weekend sees the arrival of Ireland’s first LGBTQ+ music festival in Love Sensation, and the line-up is absolutely brilliant. Hosted by the Queen of Ireland herself Panti Bliss, Lily Allen, Clean Bandit, Gossip and Kelis will all take to the main stage as headliners, with some of the world’s best-loved drag queens keeping things moving at the George stage too (Naomi Smalls and Jujubee to name just two). For fans of the dance collective, the Mother DJ’s will have their very own stage to play with too. What a way to round off the summer. Weekend tickets still available at €116.25 + fees.

All weekend: Spend some time with Marianne and Leonard at the Lighthouse

If you’re a Leonard Cohen fan (or just a poetry fan in general), then spend this weekend all loved up at the Lighthouse Cinema with their screenings of Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love: a film that explores the iconic couple’s love story, from its early days in Hydra in Greece to their deaths decades later. A gorgeous film and a great way to enjoy Leonard Cohen all over again.

And of course: find a spot to watch the hurling on Sunday

As if you needed a reminder. Kilkenny take on Tipperary in Croke Park this Sunday for the All-Ireland Senior Men’s Hurling Final, with throw in at 3:30pm. Grab an armchair or a barstool and settle in for a great day of sport.
