Saoirse Ronan Lands A Spot On Forbes’ ’30 Under 30′ List

Saoirse Ronan Lands A Spot On Forbes’ ’30 Under 30′ List

She is potentially mere days away from Golden Globes glory (and we hope that well deserved Oscars nomination) for her acclaimed starring role in Brooklyn, and now Saoirse Ronan has nabbed a spot on Forbes’ prestigious ’30 under 30′ list, cementing what we hope will be the start of Ronan’s biggest and brightest year yet. The business magazine’s list celebrates the most successful young talents in the entertainment industry of the past 12 months.

In its profile of the 21-year-old, Forbes said that Ronan “has set critics fluttering with Brooklyn, which many expect will earn her a second Oscar nomination.” She was previously nominated at the tender age of just 13 for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 2008 for Atonement.

Ronan is among the nominees for Best Actress – Drama at the awards this coming Sunday. She faces some pretty stiff competition from Cate Blanchett, Brie Larson, Rooney Mara and Alicia Vikander, but many whispers say that it will be the young star’s time to shine and nab the award. ?Both Larson (who we’re also a huge fan of) and Vikander also feature on the Forbes list.

The 21-year-old said this week that her Brooklyn role “saved her,” helping her transition from child star to more adult roles. “When Brooklyn came along, it was perfect, and it was like a b**ody guardian angel or something coming down and kind of going, ‘OK, you’re ready now’. I think just going through that experience, I felt quite changed afterwards, but I was very much ready to take that step,” she said.

And while she rocked the red carpet at the Palm Springs Film Festival in a divine,?whimsical take on print-on-print dressing in a?Duro Olowu dress, she also took home an award and thanked fellow actor Ryan Gosling for that time he told everyone how to pronounce her name correctly – and now suddenly people are getting it right.

“Someone sent me a photo two weeks later of a cinema in Minnesota, and on the sign in the front it said, ‘Brooklyn’ and then underneath it said, ‘Ser-sha, Like Inertia’,” the actress told People.

We’ll forever adore the woman who shares our love for Gosling: “I couldn’t believe it! They actually put it on the front of the cinema, so the power of Ryan Gosling is stronger than anything else. He’s like Jesus or something, like a blond Canadian Jesus!”

We’ll be rooting for Ronan on Sunday (we can’t wait to see her dress) and have our fingers?crossed?when this year’s Oscar nominations are?announced on Thursday, January?14th.
