Princess Diana’s former butler has shared a never before seen letter from the late royal

Paul Burrell, Princess Diana’s former butler, has shared a letter he received from the princess following her visit to Mother Teresa in 1992

Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell has shared an unseen letter from the late royal.

Mr Burrell took to Instagram last night to share a picture of the letter which was sent to him by the princess following a visit to Mother Teresa in Calcutta in 1992. She called the trip “profound”.

The letter reads: “Today something very profound touched my life.

“I went to Mother Teresa’s home in Calcutta and found the direction I’ve been searching for all these years. The sisters sang to me on arrival, a deeply spiritual experience and I soared to such great heights in my spirit. The light shone from within these ladies, saints for want of a better word, such love came from their eyes, and their touch was full of warmth.”

Mr Burrell read the note and added: “For me, these spiritual words bring light and encouragement in these dark times. And along with this note, I have posted some images from that visit which I hope you will enjoy.”

Along with the letter, he shared pictures of Princess Diana with the nuns of the order of the Missionaries of Charity.

In the post he wrote: “Princess Diana did not have a large collection of jewellery but what she did have she wore to great effect. I wanted to share with you photographs of some of her most iconic pieces.”
