Why Pink Trainers Are On My Wish List

Why Pink Trainers Are On My Wish List

The phrase?”pink trainers” sounds like something of an oxymoron. Aren’t trainers supposed to look slightly boyish and a bit utilitarian? Isn’t pink a little too fluffy for this kind of practical, hard-wearing workhorse of a shoe?

Designers delight in defying our expectations. This season they’ve taken the common trainer and elevated it to the dizzy heights of high fashion. Yes, many of us have been running around for the past few years in our trendy white Stan Smiths, but?pretty pink is now the hottest hue for this style of shoe. Wondering how you’ll incorporate this soft pastel shade into your earthy autumn wardrobe? As it turns out, pink (from sorbet to fuchsia) works really well with our favourite September shades of burgundy, blue, maize and mustard. Here are the styles I’ve got my eye on right now.

These glitter sneakers from & Other Stories offer a hint of pink without being too sugary. I?love the sequin detailing. It makes these a perfectly acceptable option for dinner and drinks if paired with a skirt or smart jacket.

These peachy pink plimsolls are so chic. I think they would look fantastic with a navy trouser suit.

We all like a little bit of elevation sometimes, but without having to wear a heel. The platform soles of these Sandro shoes are great for adding height, while the suede fabric adds texture. I love how they’ve hardened up the whole look with a pair of black laces.

The mix of pattern and texture here, and the punctuation of black laces and a black toe adds layers of interest to these trainers and dilutes down the girlishness of the pastel shades. These shoes will never go out of style, and will add real personality to your look.
