Jean Paul Gaultier, Elie Saab, Gaultier, Armani Prive and Valentino – our edit of the Spring/Summer 2015 couture collections.

Jean Paul Gaultier’s show is deservedly stealing headlines this week, after Naomi Campbell’s closed the show. The presentation was shown to the backdrop of a remix of Billy Idol’s White Wedding, which is why all the models look like they are having the best time ever. There was definitely an 1980s power woman vibe to the collection. Here’s our pick of the best looks:

Have you ever read a Harlequin Presents novel? The female protagonists usually come from small principalities along the Rivera and are either unhappy princesses or royals-in-waiting, about to catch the eye of a playboy prince. If these fictional gals could choose a couturier they would have Elie Saab on speed dial.

This is what the villainess would wear.

Armani Prive played a blinder last year with Blake Lively acting as something of a style amabassodor. Remember that burgundy dress at Cannes? Their couture offerings this year are elegant creations playing with classic shapes. The brand is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year and this collection pays tribute to the label’s DNA.

We love the bamboo print running through the inky collection. Expect to see these gowns on a red carpet soon, and maybe on new mother Blake when she’s back in red carpet action.

Valentino’s collection is vying with Chanel for its display of such obvious artistry in the embroidered gowns and jackets on offer. Poems were appliqued onto dresses and historical periods set the template for some truly beautiful ensembles.

It’s rare anyone finds inspiration from the world of F?is Ceoil but design duo Viktor + Rolf have always been outliers. How do you like this harvest spin on the Irish dancing dress?

Also, Chanel today released a video of their ‘garden’ show from earlier this week. Have a watch below.
