Jo’s girl about town: May issue is here!

This week it’s all about the Taco Taco feast and Richard E. Grant, but first – ?the May issue of IMAGE!

The spang new issue of IMAGE is on shelves now, and let me start by saying: dungarees. We all got pretty enthused about our ultimate fashion phobias here at HQ, so much so that we took to the pages of the May issue to share our deepest, darkest fears. Suffice to say I go to town on dungarees and even now, as I write this, I’m imagining myself as an overgrow hillbilly. Shudder. The brilliant Holly Shortall illustrated the phobias, below. Read more about Holly here.

There’s so much in the new issue, but one of my other favourite pieces is by the wonderful Caroline Foran, who bravely offers a raw and honest account of her experience with anxiety. It’ll open your eyes and your mind.

Last weekend was amazing. Record Day was an inspiration, to see so many people in record stores buying vinyl and enjoying Dublin’s music scene was the business. I was lucky enough to catch Pals – The Irish at Gallipoli (thanks to the wondrous actress Aine Ni Laoghaire, who graced me with a ticket), at the National Museum of Ireland. The theatre piece is an immersive experience telling the story of the young, Irish men who fought in the First World War. It’s an incredible story which unfolds in the Barracks and it’s thrilling. Go see it!

Eating out in Dublin never fails to delight me, and this week I was well and truly treated at Taco Taco on Dame Court.

Today I fulfilled a life dream. Today, I met Richard E.Grant! He’s in town to launch his fragrance, Jack, at Brown Thomas and I got to quiz him on life, love, film and working on Girls. Get the fill lowdown in the next issue of the mag. I look so out of it!! I was sweating. LOTS.

This weekend I’ll be … Eating at the Dublin Bay Prawn Festival (if the weather holds), catching up on House of the Year (am obsessed!) and heading to the?Face2Face with Marriage Equality Photoshoot in Templebar. Don’t foget to register to vote!

Last week, My Day in the Life piece with January Russell went down well with you guys, so I decided to do it again this time with blogger/presenter/fashion week staple Lorna Weightman. I met Lorna four years ago at the now defunct Blogger Awards (retro!!) and we got along instantly. At the time, Lorna was taking the leap to move from her job in finance to a full time fashion career. Scary stuff, but look at how well she’s done after all that hard work. Go Lorna! You can read her typical day here.
