The Internet Is Worried About Sam Smith’s Weight Loss

The Internet Is Worried About Sam Smith’s Weight Loss

Sam Smith has had a busy few years of it. His career has exploded with Grammy wins and a host of hit singles. Then he went and landed the gig of a lifetime – writing and performing the theme song for Bond movie Spectre. The Writing’s On The Wall is up for an Oscar at the end of the month so Smith has been walking a lot of red carpet. However, his appearance of late has some people worried.

The singer has been public in the past about his battle with his weight. He has been on a strict diet and exercise regime since last year. He’s credited nutritionist Amanda Freer and her book Eat, Nourish, Glow for his new ‘self?. He posted a selfie of himself posing alongside her book last spring with the caption:

“Three weeks ago I met a woman who has completely changed my life. Amelia Freer has helped me lose over a stone in 2 weeks and has completely transformed my relationship with food. Everyone go check out her incredible book, and start to live healthy. It’s not even about weight loss it’s about feeling happy in yourself. Love you Amelia & thank you for making me feel so happy inside and out.”

Yesterday he posted a photo of himself to the social network, hanging out in LA to Instagram. His devoted fans reacted with worried comments.

Do you and continue to work hard. I have been following your progress…even bought the book. Stay dedicated…healthy life. We all know what happens when you fall off track…?

It’s nice that Sam’s fans look out for him, but there’s also a worrying sense of ownership about it all. While Sam Smith is in the public eye and has spoken on the record about his weight, the fact that people feel the need to lambast him or tell him he’s doing the right thing is a bit offputting. Can we just leave the young man be while he enjoys his success?
