Exciting news alert! IMAGE Media has been named as a finalist in the Digiday Publishing Awards alongside global brand leaders

We are delighted to announce IMAGE Media has been named a finalist in the US-based, global Digiday Publishing Awards. What a thrill!

Not only is IMAGE Media the only Irish publisher to feature, we were also shortlisted in not one, but two categories: Most Modern Legacy Publisher and Best Use of Voice.

The prestigious awards – regarded as publishing’s benchmark of excellence, evolution and innovation – sees the world’s most established media names compete in 20 categories.

Global brands

The “Most Modern Legacy Publisher” category is a new addition to the annual awards. It recognises companies that have “successfully transitioned a legacy brand into the modern era”. As finalists, we are joined by global media brands such as National Geographic, ABC, USA Today, Bloomberg Media and Merriam-Webster.

IMAGE’s Smart Casual podcast, produced in collaboration with Kildare Village, was shortlisted in the “Best Use of Voice” category. The podcast – a smart podcast for smart stylish women – is Ireland’s first fashion podcast. Other finalists in this category include giants Amazon, Food Network and CNBC.

Digiday recognises that this year’s finalists reflect an industry intent on navigating a path forward, saying: “As publishers seek new ways to create valuable products that present opportunities to collect previously unclaimed revenue and are true to the core of their businesses, this year’s list honours those who have best laid out the course for their future.”

Pioneering

Celebrating the exciting news, IMAGE Media CEO Clodagh Edwards says she’s overjoyed to see IMAGE’s vision, creativity and quality being recognised on a global stage.

“For over 43 years, IMAGE has been at the forefront of evolution, from leading ground-breaking conversations in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, to pioneering new platforms and innovation in the 2000s.

“As the world of publishing changes with increasing rapidity, we have made huge leaps to carry IMAGE’s integrity and quality across our digital and experiential offerings.

“Advertisers are loyal to IMAGE, and have made the journey with us because of our quality content, engaged audience and success in finding new ways to meet brands’ objectives. With the Digiday nominations, we are overjoyed to be recognised for the work that we do, and to stand on a global stage.”

Smart Casual

Smart Casual is hosted by the wonderful IMAGE team of Fashion Director Marie Kelly, Group Digital & Innovations Director Dominique McMullan and staff writer Édaein O’Connell.

While Dominique is on maternity leave, stylist Sarah Rickard has joins Marie and Édaein for the bi-weekly episodes.

“You might think that discussions centred around style would be one dimensional or that a ‘girly’ chat about clothes would be trivial,” explains Dominique. “The opposite is true. The clothes we chose to wear speak volumes about who we are and who we strive to be. We interact with our wardrobes every day and the relationship we have with our clothes is an intimate one that often reflects our relationship with ourselves.”

If you aren’t already a loyal listener, Smart Casual is the place to go (via your favourite podcast app or join us for our next live recording!) to hear amazing guests and get the low-down on high fashion, street style and everything in between.

“Kildare Village is delighted to have partnered with Image on such a unique and engaging podcast,” says Val Forde, PR & Communications Director of Value Retail Management Ireland. “This has been a true collaboration from the beginning when we initially started to discuss the concept to the successful production that it is now. The calibre of guests and lively discussion on every episode has been fantastic and we are so thrilled at the reaction to the podcast.

“Our aim was to bring our guests something new and exciting and to enrich the fashion conversation in Ireland. I think we have definitely achieved that. The Smart Casual podcast is something we are immensely proud of,” she says.

New York, New York

The Digiday Publishing Awards finalists were shortlisted by a panel of industry leaders, including executives from Meredith, Reddit, the Infatuation, Gannett and Highsnobiety.

Winners will be announced on September 12 at the Digiday Publishing Awards Gala in New York.

So the obvious next question is, whatever should we wear?
