Golden Globes 2015: Nominees and Predictions

Tomorrow, Sunday night, (or in Ireland’s case, in the wee hours of Monday morning) it’s all eyes on the 72nd annual Golden Globes, as the world’s biggest stars come together in celebration of the year’s best film and TV. In case you missed out, we’ve laid out the extensive list of nominees below, but who do you think will reign supreme? What are your predictions? And who do you suspect will be snubbed?

The Golden Globes have long been viewed as a more laid back, ‘anything goes’ kinda precursor to the Oscars. If you’re lucky enough to rack up a few gongs at the Globes, it’s pretty much plain sailing come Oscars night. On the film side if things, it seems Birdman (starring a staggeringly talented Michael Keaton and Ed Norton) will undoubtedly be welcomed into the award winning hall of fame, having earned itself 7 worthy nominations. We predict it will be Keaton who walks away with the Best Actor in a Comedy Film for his utterly captivating performance. In terms of the actresses, we imagine it will be a tight race between Rosamund Pike and Reese Witherspoon, for their turns in Gone Girl and Wild respectively. Though we’re rooting big for Jennifer Aniston, given what we’ve already heard about Cake. We also suspect big things are in store for Richard Linklater‘s coming of age story Boyhood.

TV wise, it’s anybody’s guess. With so many stellar productions being rolled out, (House of Cards being one of our favourites) and with so many huge names now making the move from silver to small screen, there’s simply too much good stuff to choose from. What’s piqued your interest in 2014?
